Weddings

WeddingSo you want to get married? You have a choice to make – a civil ceremony in a registry office or hotel or a religious wedding in a church…  At the end of both types of ceremony you are still married so why choose to be married in a church?

Well, that's a personal choice for you to make but If you are reading this then chances are that you are considering a religious church wedding here in Elderslie Kirk. We would be more than happy to meet with you to talk things through.

Here, though, are a few things we would ask you to remember:

  1. We offer wedding ceremonies for people who live within the community and parish bounds of Elderslie.  We are happy to talk to you as well if you are a member or a close family member is.  We are also happy to talk to those who were brought up in our church or have come through one of our youth organisations.
  2. We strongly recommend that you do not book your wedding reception date without prior consultation with the minister. His diary, just like yours fills up too!  We don’t want you to be disappointed to discover that you can have a reception but not a wedding ceremony!
  3. The services of the minister are absolutely free – there is no fee but we do ask for fees for the organist, the church cleaner and for the use of the church, which currently comes to a total of £300 payable at the rehearsal before the wedding itself.
  4. We don’t ask that you join Elderslie Kirk to have your wedding ceremony here but we would like to see you in church on a few occasions. After all, it allows you to see what the church is really like.  It’s also a way of getting to know the minister better which will hopefully make your wedding day a more special and meaningful occasion.
